SPRING VALLEY, N.Y. — A Rockland County man has been sentenced to 25 years to life in prison following his conviction for the 2022 murder of a fellow Spring Valley resident, officials announced.

Oscar Garcia-Garcia, 30, was sentenced Tuesday by Rockland County Court Judge Kevin F. Russo after being found guilty of second-degree murder by a jury in March. The trial lasted three weeks.

According to prosecutors, the incident occurred in the early morning hours of December 29, 2022. Garcia-Garcia had encountered the victim, 54-year-old Luis Pinduisaca-Villa, at a local bar the night before. After the victim left the bar, Garcia-Garcia followed him and stabbed him in the throat with a large kitchen knife around 1:00 a.m.

A pedestrian discovered Pinduisaca-Villa’s body lying in the road and contacted law enforcement.

The Village of Spring Valley Police Department, with assistance from the Rockland County Sheriff’s Bureau of Criminal Investigation, launched an immediate investigation. Officers recovered physical evidence at the scene, including blood, clothing, and the weapon used in the attack.

Garcia-Garcia was interviewed later that day and admitted to the stabbing, police said. He was arrested and charged shortly after.
