Springfield Shooting Leaves One Dead

SPRINGFIELD, MA – A fatal shooting occurred on Thursday, in Springfield, Massachusetts. Springfield Police officers were called to the 100 block of Hancock Street around 9:20 p.m., following a ShotSpotter activation.

Upon arrival, officers found an adult male gunshot victim inside a vehicle. The victim was transported to Baystate Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead. The identity of the deceased has not been released, pending notification of next of kin.

The Springfield Police Department’s Homicide Unit, in conjunction with the Hampden District Attorney’s Murder Unit, is investigating the case.
