Staples store in Howell set to close after October

Howell, NJ – Another retail staple is shutting down in Monmouth County. The Howell Staples has posted signs announcing it will permanently close its doors on Oct. 3.

Shoppers who rely on the Route 9 location for office supplies, printing services, and Amazon package returns will have to travel to nearby stores in Freehold or Brick once the closure takes effect.

The announcement marks the latest in a series of retail changes across the township, where residents have noted the loss of several well-known businesses in recent years. For many locals, the closing also means shifting Amazon returns to Kohl’s, a popular alternative drop-off site in the area.

Staples has not yet issued a corporate statement on the Howell closure, and it is unclear if employees will be offered positions at nearby stores.

The nearest Staples locations are in Freehold, Brick Township, and Toms River.
