Starting Today, Virginia Farm Vehicles Now Required to Show Farm Placard

Albemarle County, VA — The Albemarle County Police Department reminds residents that starting today, all farm vehicles in Virginia must prominently display a farm use placard issued by the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV).

Previously, unofficial farm use tags were acceptable. However, misuse of farm tags will now result in a fine of up to $250, with any subsequent offense carrying a mandatory $250 fine.

DMV-issued farm-use tags can be obtained for a one-time cost of $15, which is significantly cheaper than the fines for non-compliance. Ensure your farm vehicles are properly tagged to avoid penalties.
