HAGERSTOWN, Md. — A Pittsburgh Steelers fan is now $200,000 richer after winning the top prize on a Maryland Lottery Ravens X10 scratch-off ticket — a twist of fate that even he admits is ironic.

The Washington County resident claimed his prize at Maryland Lottery headquarters on May 19, weeks after purchasing the ticket from a Sheetz store on Sharpsburg Pike during a work break in April. He waited until he was home to scratch it, revealing the massive win in his basement.

The player matched one of his numbers on the Ravens-branded ticket and was stunned to find the $200,000 prize underneath. He called his wife to confirm what he was seeing. They locked the ticket away and checked it repeatedly before heading to Lottery headquarters.

The Hagerstown store that sold the winning ticket will receive a $1,000 bonus from the Lottery.

Top prize turns team rivalry into unexpected jackpot

Despite his loyalty to the Steelers, the winner said he’s grateful for the lucky outcome. He plans to use the money for home improvements, paying bills, and possibly purchasing a new car.
