VIRGINIA BEACH, VA — The Virginia Beach Police Department (VBPD) has successfully resolved numerous cases related to vehicle thefts and firearm larcenies, leading to the recovery of four stolen vehicles, two firearms, and the arrest of four juveniles aged between 15 and 17. This operation has cleared 23 cases, with the potential for additional resolutions.
The ongoing investigation into these crimes highlighted a concerning trend of vehicle-related offenses, particularly the theft of firearms from unlocked vehicles.
This trend is not only local but is noted throughout the Hampton Roads area and across the nation.
In response to these findings, VBPD Chief Paul Neudigate has underscored the critical role of community vigilance in preventing such crimes. He strongly advocates for citizens to secure their vehicles, remove valuables, and particularly firearms, to help deter theft and subsequent criminal activities.
