Stony Point Man Pleads Guilty to Attempted Murder in West Nyack Hotel Attack

WEST NYACK, NY – District Attorney Thomas E. Walsh II announced yesterday that Todd Humphrey, 46, of Stony Point, New York, has pleaded guilty to attempted murder in the second degree for a violent attack at the Tappan Zee Hotel in West Nyack. On October 17, 2022, Humphrey attacked a woman with a mini-sledgehammer and a regular-sized sledgehammer while she was in the shower.

The victim sustained substantial head lacerations but managed to escape and was assisted by hotel staff. Humphrey was later apprehended in Putnam County after a vehicle pursuit.

He is expected to be sentenced to 10 years in state prison with 5 years of post-release supervision.
