Strange NJ: Ocean County’s Abandoned Black Beard’s Cave to be Demolished

BAYVILLE, NJ – It was once one the summer entertainment hubs of central Ocean County. Black Beard’s Cave opened around the summer of 1990 and quickly became a top destination spot for teens and families. It included a miniature golf course, batting cages, kiddie amusement park, go karts, archery, water balloon fights, bumper boats an indoor arcade and a train theme restaurant called C.B. Huntington’s.

The park had been struggling financially prior to COVID-19, but after closing in 2020, it never opened again, ending a 30 year reign as one of the best Friday and Saturday night spots for kids.

It is reportedly going to be replaced by a storage facility.
