Structure Fire on Chapline Street in Sharpsburg Quickly Controlled

SHARPSBURG, MD — A fire broke out at a two-story single-family residence located at 207 W Chapline Street on Thursday. The Sharpsburg Volunteer Fire Company responded to the scene after a passerby discovered the blaze at approximately 11:11 AM.

The fire, which originated on the front porch, was brought under control within five minutes by the six firefighters dispatched to the scene. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported, and the structure sustained an estimated $10,000 in damages. The residence did not have a smoke alarm, and there is no information available regarding fire alarms or sprinkler systems.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Authorities are urging anyone with information related to the incident to contact the Western Regional Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal at 301-766-3888.
