Student arrested after Bringing Loaded gun to Prince George’s County School

CHELTENHAM, MD – A student is facing charges after bringing a loaded gun to school.

The Prince George’s County Police Department is conducting an investigation after a 17-year-old student at Non-Traditional Program 9-12 South school in Cheltenham brought a loaded gun onto the school premises.

The student will face charges as an adult.

At approximately 9:15 am on Thursday, Prince George’s Schools security personnel reported to the police department that they had recovered a gun from a 9th grade male student.

During the preliminary investigation, it was revealed that the unserialized gun, commonly known as a ghost gun, had fallen from the student’s waistband in the gymnasium.

The student will be charged with several offenses, including carrying a handgun on their person, possessing a dangerous weapon on school property, unlawfully possessing a firearm as a minor, and carrying a loaded handgun on their person.
