Student Stabbed at Buffalo High School

BUFFALO, NY – Buffalo Police Department, headed by Commissioner Joseph A. Gramaglia, confirmed that an arrest was made on Wednesday, in relation to a stabbing incident that occurred outside Riverside High School.

At around 2:45 p.m., officers responded to a call and upon arrival at the school, they found a victim who had been stabbed multiple times, sustaining serious injuries.

Makai Cook, 19, of Buffalo, was apprehended by Northwest district patrol officers while attempting to flee the scene. Cook is now charged with Assault in the Second Degree, a class D felony, Menacing in the Second Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon, both class A misdemeanors, and Trespassing, a violation.

The victim, an 18-year-old male student, was transported by ambulance to ECMC, where he received medical care for non-life-threatening injuries.

Following the treatment, he has been discharged and is currently in a stable condition.
