Queens, NY – A 37-year-old man was assaulted and robbed aboard a northbound E train early Tuesday morning in Queens, with three suspects repeatedly beating him before fleeing on another train, police said.

The incident occurred at approximately 3:00 a.m. at the Grand Avenue subway station. Authorities say the victim was on board the train when he was approached by three unidentified individuals who began punching him throughout his body.

After the train stopped, both the victim and the suspects exited onto the platform, where the victim attempted to recover his stolen property. The situation escalated further as the suspects continued their assault.

Assault continues on platform before suspects escape

The NYPD detailed the sequence of events, stating, “On Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at approximately 3:00 a.m., at the Grand Avenue subway station, a 37-year-old male victim was on board a northbound ‘E’ train when he was approached by three unidentified individuals.” The statement continued, “The individuals proceeded to punch the victim about the body before removing his headphones.”

Police said the violence continued after the group exited the train. “The victim and the three unidentified individuals exited the train, and the victim attempted to retrieve his property. The three individuals continued to punch and kick the victim before boarding a northbound ‘E’ train to parts unknown,” according to the NYPD.

Investigation ongoing as police seek suspects

No arrests have been made, and investigators are working to identify the three individuals involved. Detectives are expected to review surveillance footage from the station and train.
