Suffolk County Man Pleads Guilty to Sexually Abusing Niece

SUFFOLK COUNTY, N.Y. – A 42-year-old Melville man, whose name is withheld to protect the victim’s identity, has pleaded guilty to criminal sexual acts and related charges for sexually abusing his seven-year-old niece in August.

Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney announced the plea, which spares the young victim from testifying in court.The abuse occurred on August 11, when the defendant was visiting his sister’s home.

He admitted to sexually abusing his niece, claiming it was “exercise” to make her strong.

The crime came to light the following day when the child revealed the abuse to her mother, who then contacted the police.

The defendant, a registered sex offender from a 2008 conviction, awaits sentencing on December 20, for multiple felony and misdemeanor charges.
