Suitland Homicide Suspect Identified and Charged

PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY, MD – The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit has identified and charged Rickey Redd, a 33-year-old man from Oxon Hill, in connection with the murder of Andra Sweeper, a 38-year-old resident of Baltimore. On Saturday, February 4, 2023, at around 8:30 pm, officers were dispatched to the 3300 block of Curtis Drive to assist an unresponsive woman in an apartment. Upon arrival, Sweeper was discovered suffering from trauma and was subsequently pronounced dead at the scene.

DNA evidence collected in Sweeper’s apartment tied Redd to the murder. Investigations revealed that Redd and Sweeper had met online and agreed to meet at Sweeper’s residence where the murder took place. Redd has been charged with first and second degree murder, and related charges. Currently, he is held by the Department of Corrections without bond.
