Summer Crime Wave Ends as Police Arrest Carjacking Suspect in D.C.

WASHINGTON, DC – An arrest has been made in connection with three armed carjackings that terrorized the District during the summer.

In each incident, the suspect approached victims while brandishing a firearm, demanding they surrender their vehicles before fleeing in the stolen cars. The armed carjackings occurred on the following dates and locations:

  • June 22 at 4:55 a.m. in the 1100 block of Sycamore Drive, SE
  • July 17 at 3:54 p.m. in the 400 block of Chaplin Street, SE
  • July 17 at 6:02 p.m. in the 4600 block of Eads Street, NE

On October 16, an 18-year-old male from Southeast was arrested and charged with Armed Carjacking as a result of the investigation. Since he was under 18 at the time of the offenses, he will be charged as a juvenile.

A reward of up to $10,000 is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of individuals responsible for violent crimes in the District of Columbia.
