Suspect Arrested for May Capitol Park Shooting of Neighbor

DOVER, DE – A 45-year-old Dover man has been arrested after shooting his neighbor during a dispute back in May. Jaron Jones has been a fugitive on the run since the May 24th shooting.

According to police reports from May, on May 24, at approximately 11:54 p.m., troopers responded to the residences on Congress Place regarding a report of shots fired.

“The ensuing investigation revealed that Jaron Jones had been involved in an argument with a neighbor. During the argument, Jones fired several shots toward the neighbor, which struck the victim, a 45-year-old man from Clayton, DE, who was standing nearby,” police reported. “Jones subsequently fled the area in a black Buick Enclave SUV and was last seen traveling northbound on Bay Road towards an unknown destination.”

On Thursday, Jones turned himself in and was charged with first degree assault, reckless endangerment and illegal possession of a firearm.
