Stamford, CT– The Stamford Police Department, in collaboration with the FBI and NYPD, has apprehended a suspect linked to the theft of firearms from local storage units. This arrest concludes an investigation into the burglaries at CubeSmart on Shippan Avenue and Extra Space Storage on W. Main Street on February 22 and February 23.

Stamford Police responded to reports indicating forced entry into storage containers and firearm theft. The Bureau of Criminal Investigations Property Unit identified Joshua Casiano from the Bronx, NY, as the suspect. Casiano was apprehended in New York City following collaboration among Stamford detectives, the FBI, and NYPD, leading to a search that recovered several stolen handguns.

On Monday, Casiano was extradited to Connecticut to face multiple felony charges including larceny, burglary, conspiracy to commit larceny, and 47 counts of firearm theft. The Stamford Superior Court set his bond at $1 million.

Authorities praise the teamwork between various law enforcement agencies in arresting Casiano. The Stamford Police Department requests anyone with more information contact the Stamford Police Property Crimes Unit at 203-977-5828.
