Suspect Arrested in Connection with East 33rd Street Murder Investigation

NEW YORK, NY – A month-long investigation culminated in the arrest of Maleik Frazier, 39, for manslaughter related to the death of Marcel Mungia, 55.

Mungia was found unresponsive on August 14 after EMS responded to a 911 call at approximately 12:53 a.m. near 221 East 33 Street. He was taken to NYC Health and Hospitals/Bellevue and later pronounced dead. The Chief Medical Examiner’s Office later classified the death as a homicide.

Frazier, of Brooklyn, was arrested and charged on Monday, September 25, at 1:00 p.m. in Midtown.

The case remains under investigation.
