Suspect arrested in Florida for June murder in Virginia Beach

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA – An arrest has recently been made in connection to the June 15 homicide that occurred on Garfield Ave. Jamieson Francis, a 22-year-old man from Fayetteville, NC, was arrested on June 21, with help from the U.S. Marshals in Florida.

He faces charges of Second Degree Murder and Use of a Firearm in Commission of a Felony, and is currently awaiting extradition from Florida.

On the night of the incident, the Virginia Beach Police Department responded to reports of gunshots in the 700 block of Garfield Ave. Upon arrival, officers found 20-year-old Lonnie Harvey Jr. of Virginia Beach, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Harvey was transported to a local hospital, where he later died due to his injuries.
