CUMBERLAND, MD — A local altercation escalated into an arrest after a reported assault occurred within a Cumberland residence on November 2. Steven Richard White, a 52-year-old resident of Wendover, Utah, was taken into custody following an incident initially reported as destruction of property.

Authorities were summoned to a home on Race Street at 5:56 p.m., where White reported the destruction of his property by an individual he lived with. Upon advising White on legal recourse, officers prepared to leave but were drawn back by a commotion inside the residence.

Re-entering the home, officers found that White had allegedly assaulted another occupant, causing visible injuries that corroborated the victim’s account. Subsequently, White was apprehended and charged with second-degree assault, failure to obey a lawful order, and disorderly conduct.

Following his arrest, White was processed at Central Booking. A District Court commissioner later reviewed his case, resulting in a set bond of $2,500.
