Suspect charged for two robberies of same store in Frederick City

FREDERICK,D – police in Frederick have arrested a man wanted for at least two robberies that occurred in Frederick City at local businesses.

On August 23rd at around 8:40 PM, police officers from the Frederick Police Department’s Patrol division responded to the A1 Mart located at 649 Himes Ave in reference to a commercial robbery.

“During the investigation, it was determined the suspect entered the business and passed a note to the employee that indicated he was armed and demanded money. The suspect was wearing a mask and left the business before police arrival and after being handed an undisclosed amount of currency,” police said.

On August 25th at around 6:06 PM, the same store was robbed again.

“The robbery attempt was not successful and information and evidence gathered at the scene helped to identify the name of the suspect and the location he fled. Officers and detectives set a perimeter around the suspect’s residence and he was taken into custody without incident,” police said in a report.

The suspect’s name is Stefan Alejandro Gajate.

A search and seizure warrant was executed at the suspect’s residence and evidence linking the suspect to the robbery and attempted robbery at the A-1 Mart was located and confiscated. Gajate was transported to the Frederick County Adult Detention Center (FCADC) for an appearance before the District Court Commissioner, where he was initially held without bond.
