Suspect charged with first-degree murder after fatal Baltimore shooting

BALTIMORE, MD — A 28-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the deadly shooting of DeAngelo West, who was killed in the Eastern District last month, police announced Tuesday.

The incident occurred on December 26 at approximately 3:29 p.m. in the 2400 block of East Preston Street. Officers responding to reports of a shooting found 27-year-old West suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries three days later, on December 29.

On January 1, investigators arrested Maurice Prioleau at a home in the 2600 block of Tyler Street. Prioleau was charged with first-degree murder and transported to the Central Booking Intake Facility.

Detectives determined that Prioleau fatally shot West during the incident, though further details surrounding the motive have not been released.
