Suspected arrested in NYC Independence Day stabbing death

NEW YORK, NY – Police in New York City have arrested a man who stabbed another to death in the Country Club section of the Bronx early Tuesday morning.

Responding to a 911 call at approximately 3:17 am, officers arrived at 3286 Radio Drive to find a 26-year-old male victim with multiple stab wounds to the torso. EMS transported the victim to NYC Health & Hospitals/Jacobi, where he was pronounced deceased.

Following the incident, the NYPD took a suspect into custody. Joseph Gomez, a 21-year-old male residing at 2850 Roberts Avenue in the Bronx, was arrested later in the day at 12:15 pm in Throgs Neck. He now faces charges that include murder, manslaughter, assault (two counts), and criminal possession of a weapon.

The victim has been identified as 26-year-old Luis Cartagena.
