SOMERSET COUNTY, PA – Attorney General Michelle Henry announced yesterday the guilty verdict of six charges against suspended Somerset County District Attorney Jeffrey L. Thomas, including assault and strangulation, for a September 2021 incident. Senior Judge Timothy P. Creany will sentence Thomas on May 16, 2023, and he was remanded to the Somerset County Jail following the verdict.

The victim testified that Thomas entered her home, refused to leave, and ultimately beat and sexually assaulted her. Thomas had previously contacted the victim for months, sending inappropriate messages and images. The Office of the Attorney General is also prosecuting a separate criminal case regarding domestic abuse allegations in Cambria County.

After the verdict, Judge Creany ordered a sexually violent predator assessment to be conducted. Attorney General Henry commended the jurors for their attention to the victim’s living nightmare and hoped the verdict offered her a measure of justice.
