Fatal Collision in Middletown Under Police Investigation

**Middletown, DE** – Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred on Friday in Middletown.

On Friday, at approximately 8:09 p.m., a Toyota Prius and a Ford Mustang collided on Dupont Parkway (US-13), just north of Marl Pit Road. The Prius was traveling northbound while the Mustang was heading southbound, leading to a near head-on collision impacting their front left sides.

The driver of the Toyota Prius, a 58-year-old man from Bear, Delaware, was taken to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. His identity is being withheld pending family notification. A 24-year-old passenger from Smyrna, Delaware, in the Ford Mustang, and the Mustang’s driver, a 20-year-old from Hartly, Delaware, were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries; the driver has been released.

Former Resident Indicted for 2022 Fatal Collision in Howell

**FREEHOLD, NJ –** A former Ocean County resident has been charged in relation to a fatal 2022 multi-vehicle accident in Howell, according to Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago’s announcement on Wednesday.

Drew Peterson, 34, who previously lived in Jackson Township and now resides in Jensen Beach, Florida, faces one count of second-degree vehicular manslaughter. Following a thorough evaluation by a forensic toxicologist, the indictment was issued on Wednesday, October 30. Peterson was processed on Monday, November 18 after returning to New Jersey.

The incident occurred on Friday, March 11, 2022, at around 12:05 a.m. Peterson was operating a 2004 Ford F150 pickup westbound on Route 33, west of the Colts Neck Road intersection, when it crossed the centerline and sideswiped a 2004 Kia Rio. Continuing in the wrong direction, the pickup then struck head-on with a 2010 Dodge Challenger driven by Robert C. Johnson, 50, of Neptune Township. Police Apprehend Suspect Following Vehicle and Scooter Collision

**Stamford, CT** – On Thursday, patrol officers from Squad “B” responded to an incident at a McDonald’s located at 1103 East Main Street. The officers were dispatched due to a collision involving a BMW sedan and a scooter, with reports indicating that the BMW fled west on East Main Street.

Authorities used surveillance cameras to trace the vehicle’s path and searched the area around Clark Hill Road. The officers found the silver BMW with damage consistent with the accident in the parking lot of 821 East Main Street. The suspect, identified as Jarrell Grant, born on August 20, 2003, was discovered in the driver’s seat.

An inventory check of the vehicle led to the discovery of a Springfield XDs 9MM semi-automatic handgun. It was found on the driver’s side floor with seven rounds in the magazine and one in the chamber. Grant was arrested for motor vehicle charges and illegal firearm possession.

**Berkeley Township, NJ** – Berkeley Township Police responded to an incident involving a pedestrian struck by a vehicle on Saturday at around 10:53 a.m. The incident occurred near 430 Atlantic City Blvd.

Upon arriving, police officers found a blue Mazda and a male pedestrian on the ground. The initial investigation indicated the Mazda was moving southbound when the pedestrian, crossing from the east without using a crosswalk, stepped in front of the car.

The impact propelled the pedestrian into the air and dragged him along the pavement. The vehicle’s windshield was shattered, but it remained otherwise undamaged.

While the Mazda’s occupants were unharmed, the pedestrian sustained multiple injuries, including a severe facial laceration, a compound arm fracture, a broken leg, and road burns. He was airlifted to Jersey Shore Medical Center for evaluation. Officer Slocum is investigating the crash further.
