Parole Jumper Apprehended on Sunset Avenue

Parole Absconder Apprehended on Sunset Avenue

**Utica, NY** – On Friday, New York State Parole Officers attempted to stop a parole absconder on the 900 block of Sunset Avenue.

The individual, identified as 23-year-old Joshua Lopez from Utica, fled on foot with a bag. During the chase, Lopez discarded the bag but was eventually captured behind a residence on the same block.

A loaded 9mm handgun was discovered in the abandoned bag. The Utica Police Department arrived subsequently and took Lopez into custody.

Lopez now faces charges including Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the second and third degrees, Criminal Possession of a Firearm, and a New York State Parole Warrant.
