Arrest Made in Mattapan Murder Case

**Boston, MA** – On Thursday at approximately 7:15 PM, law enforcement officials arrested Shovan Darby, 29, of East Weymouth. He was apprehended near 4 Astoria Street by members of the Fugitive Unit, the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force, and officers from District B-3 in Mattapan. Darby is wanted on an arrest warrant from Dorchester District Court for the murder of Mauricio M. Lawrence, 33, of Mattapan. The arraignment of the suspect in Dorchester District Court is anticipated.

Another individual, Roberto Taylor, 29, from Dorchester, has been charged with murder and multiple firearm-related offenses. Taylor remains in custody due to separate charges.

The charges stem from an incident on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, around 11:30 PM. Officers from District B-3 responded to a report of a person shot at 35 Tennis Road, Mattapan. Upon arrival, they found Mauricio M. Lawrence suffering from a gunshot wound. The Boston EMS pronounced Lawrence deceased while en route to Boston Medical Center.

The Boston Police Department’s Homicide Unit is still investigating the case.

Suspect Arrested for Brighton Larceny Incident

**Boston, MA** – Detectives from District D-14 arrested Ji Li, 44, of Boston in connection with a larceny incident. The arrest occurred on Friday at approximately 1:00 PM.

Detectives saw Li walking on Massachusetts Avenue near St. Botolph Street. The suspect, wanted for Larceny from a Building and Attempt to Commit a Crime, was approached and handcuffed.

Li is expected to be arraigned in Brighton District Court. The arrest follows a theft incident that took place on Sunday, December 15, at the Corrib Pub in Brighton.

The theft was reported on Monday, December 16, and occurred during the Allston-Brighton Toy Drive. During the event, the suspect allegedly searched guests’ belongings and stole a purse.
