Coastal NC Drug Trafficker Sentenced to 12 Years

RALEIGH, N.C. – An Elizabeth City man was sentenced Friday to 144 months in prison for distributing cocaine, cocaine base (crack), and fentanyl.  On June 23, 2021, Maurice Dwight Toxey pled guilty to the charges. According to court documents and other information presented in court, Toxey, 37, was involved in the distribution of narcotics including cocaine, crack, methamphetamine, heroin, and fentanyl in the communities surrounding Elizabeth City and the Outer Banks. Northeastern NC Drug Trafficking Organization Leader Sentenced to 25 Years

RALEIGH, N.C. – A Bertie County man was sentenced to 300 months in prison for trafficking cocaine, cocaine base, and methamphetamine and conspiring to commit money laundering in northeastern North Carolina.  On August 2, 2021, Levar Anthony Leary pled guilty or was convicted of the charges. According to court documents and other information presented in court, Leary, 41, organized and led a drug trafficking organization from 2016 to early 2021, that was responsible for distributing cocaine, cocaine base (crack), methamphetamine, heroin, and marijuana throughout northeastern North Carolina. NC woman pleads guilty to Medicaid fraud in SC

(COLUMBIA, S.C.) – South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson announced that Bethena Jackson, 57 years old, of Burlington, NC, pleaded guilty in Richland County General Sessions Court on September 21, 2021. Jackson pleaded guilty to Obtaining Signature or Property under False Pretenses, value $10,000 or more in violation of SC Code §16-13-240. Jackson was sentenced to seven years in prison, the balance of which was suspended to five years of probation with $24,273.55 ordered in restitution to the South Carolina Medicaid Program. The S.C. NC woman indicted for neglecting, exploiting, and stealing from SC nursing home residents

(COLUMBIA, S.C.) – South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson announced that on September 17, 2021 Erica Danielle Gilbert Nichols, 28 years old, of Mooresboro, NC, was indicted by a Spartanburg County Grand Jury on 16 charges related to unlawful conduct occurring in connection with her responsibilities as a caregiver at White Oak Assisted Living. The South Carolina Attorney General’s Office’s Medicaid Fraud Control Unit (SCMFCU) will be prosecuting this case under its patient abuse jurisdiction following an investigation conducted by the S.C.
