Victim robbed of $6,000 and iPhone as Newark police search for suspect

The Newark Department of Public Safety seeks assistance from the public to identify a man wanted for questioning in a robbery that took place on November 3. Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda has made this appeal in connection with the incident.

The robbery occurred around 3:30 a.m. on the 200 block of Park Avenue. The victim was in his vehicle when the suspect, armed with a handgun, approached and knocked on the driver’s side window. After the victim slightly opened the car door, the suspect forced it open and took $6,000 from the victim’s wallet.

The suspect also confiscated the victim’s iPhone after the victim managed to photograph the suspect’s vehicle, a beige Toyota Corolla with New Jersey registration U32RWY. Subsequently, the suspect fled the scene heading north on North 5th Street.

Director Miranda encourages anyone with information concerning the suspect’s identity to contact the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477).
