Target practice turns tragic as 21-year-old fatally shot in Delaware

MAGNOLIA, DE — A 21-year-old man is dead following an accidental shooting Tuesday evening in a field off Walnut Shade Road, according to the Delaware State Police.

Troopers were dispatched at approximately 8:07 p.m. on May 20 to the area near Autumn Moon Road in Magnolia after receiving reports of a shooting during a target practice session. Upon arrival, they found the man suffering from a gunshot wound and began administering life-saving efforts.

The victim was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

Preliminary findings indicate the victim was with three other individuals engaged in target shooting when the incident occurred. The Delaware State Police Homicide Unit is leading the investigation, which remains active and ongoing.
