Teaneck Police Arrest Suspect for Obstruction While Investigating Red Bull and Roku Theft

TEANECK, NJ – The Teaneck Police Department, led by Chief Andrew R. McGurr, reported the arrest of Aley Beretay following a series of events that started on Saturday afternoon.

On Saturday, officers were dispatched to an Oakdene Avenue address where a homeowner reported an intruder in their backyard carrying suspicious items.

The suspect, upon discovery, fled the scene, leaving behind merchandise including over fifty cans of Red Bull and several Roku Streaming Sticks valued at around $500.

Later that day, after multiple sightings and a collaborative chase involving the Bergen County Sheriff’s Department and the Bogota Police Department, Beretay was captured on Sandra Place. Known for previous shoplifting arrests, Beretay now faces obstruction charges with further investigations into the potentially stolen items ongoing.

Beretay has been taken to Bergen County Jail, with a pending initial court appearance. Police asked anyone with additional information to contact them as the investigation continues.
