Teaneck Police Say Stree Fight Not Related to Anti-Israel Protest

TEANECK, NJ—The Teaneck Police Department has announced the arrest of Ms. Fransheska Liriano-Benitez for simple assault following a street altercation.

The incident occurred on Saturday, May 18, 2024, around 5:17 PM on Palisade Avenue, as confirmed by Chief of Police Andrew R. McGurr.

Responding to a 911 call about a fight, officers quickly arrived at the scene and separated those involved. Investigations revealed that Ms. Liriano-Benitez struck a 31-year-old woman in the head, resulting in minor injuries. During the altercation, the victim used pepper spray, which affected multiple individuals, including Ms. Liriano-Benitez.

All parties involved were treated at the scene by the Teaneck Volunteer Ambulance Corps and refused further medical treatment.

The Teaneck Police Department clarified that initial media reports incorrectly linking the incident to protest activities were false.
