Teen Arrested After Attempted Car Theft Leads to Shooting In D.C.

Washington, D.C.—A man has been arrested in connection with a recent shooting incident in Northwest D.C.

Early Friday morning, at approximately 1:12 a.m., officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 1300 block of 13th Street, Northwest. The victim was outside his vehicle when a suspect attempted to steal it. During the struggle, a second suspect shot the victim before both suspects fled the scene in a vehicle. The victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

On Saturday, following an investigation by detectives, 19-year-old Elijah Hernandez of Northwest D.C. was arrested and charged with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon.

Metro Police Department offers a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for violent crimes in the District of Columbia.
