Teen Arrested for Illegal Possession of Defaced Firearm

LINDEN, NJ – A 17-year-old was taken into custody on Wednesday, after officers assigned to the Crime Suppression Unit found him in possession of an illegal handgun. The teenager was stopped near W. Stimpson Ave. at approximately 6:30 p.m. The ensuing investigation led to the recovery of a loaded, defaced handgun with a high-capacity magazine from the teenager’s property.

The juvenile now faces charges including second-degree possession of a handgun, third-degree possession of a defaced firearm, and fourth-degree possession of a high-capacity magazine. He is currently at the Essex County Juvenile Detention Center, awaiting his court appearance.
