Teen Arrested in Baltimore Fatal Scooter Hit-and-Run

Baltimore, MD — A fatal hit-and-run involving a pedestrian led to the arrest of a 16-year-old driver on Tuesday night.

On July 23, at approximately 9:57 p.m., Southeast District patrol officers responded to the 3500 block of Pulaski Highway following a report of a hit-and-run incident. Officers discovered that a 2009 Mazda had struck a 31-year-old male driving an electric scooter. The Mazda driver fled the scene but was swiftly located in the 2800 block of Jefferson Street by a Southeast District Action Team Sergeant.

The 16-year-old driver was arrested and taken to the Department of Juvenile Services, where he was charged. The scooter driver was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

Crash Team Detectives are investigating the incident.
