Washington, D.C. – A teenager has been arrested by the Metropolitan Police Department’s Third District following an armed carjacking incident in Northwest D.C. early Tuesday morning. The event unfolded on March 19, 2024, around 9:06 a.m. in the Unit block of O Street, Northwest, where a woman reported being threatened at gunpoint and forced to surrender her Lexus to the assailant.
The victim was in the process of parking her vehicle when she was approached and threatened by the suspect, leading her to comply with his demands. The carjacker then fled the scene in her car, prompting a 911 call from a witness. Shortly afterward, Fourth District officers responding to a hit-and-run crash at the intersection of Rock Creek Church Road and Taylor Street, Northwest, were able to locate the stolen Lexus and the driver following a tip from the public.
Officers recovered a firearm upon stopping the vehicle in the 200 block of Upshur Street, Northwest. The subsequent investigation led to identifying the driver as the carjacking suspect. A 16-year-old male from Southeast was arrested and is facing charges of Armed Carjacking, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, and Possession of a large-capacity ammunition Feeding Device, marking a swift response to the violent crime.
