WASHINGTON, D.C. — A 17-year-old male was arrested Tuesday after allegedly snatching a cell phone from a pedestrian in the Brookland neighborhood, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.
Officers responded to the 600 block of Michigan Avenue, Northeast, at approximately 4:13 p.m. after receiving a report of a robbery. The suspect approached the victim, took their phone, and attempted to flee.
Catholic University Police apprehended the suspect before he could escape, and the victim’s phone was recovered. The Metropolitan Police Department took the suspect into custody following an investigation.
Authorities identified the suspect as a juvenile from Alexandria, Virginia. He was charged with robbery (snatch).
Police have not released additional details about the incident.
