Teen charged with murder in Jay Street homicide

WASHINGTON, DC — A 19-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting that left a Northeast DC man dead last month.

On January 25 at approximately 1:15 a.m., officers responded to the 3800 block of Jay Street, Northeast, for a report of an unconscious person. Upon arrival, they found 21-year-old Antoine Pratt suffering from gunshot wounds. DC Fire and EMS arrived and pronounced him dead at the scene.

Following an investigation, detectives arrested Rodney Whiting, 19, of Northeast DC, on Friday. He has been charged with first-degree murder while armed.

Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
