Teen critically injured in shooting near High School in Lanham

Lanham, Md. — A teenage boy was critically injured in a shooting near DuVal High School in Lanham on Tuesday afternoon, prompting an investigation by Prince George’s County Police.

The shooting occurred around 3:15 p.m. in the 9800 block of Good Hope Road, near the school’s address of 9880 Good Hope Road. Police said medics transported the boy to the hospital with critical injuries, though he is expected to survive.

Authorities emphasized that the shooting did not happen on school grounds, and no additional information about the suspect or suspects has been released.

The incident remains under investigation as police work to determine the circumstances and identify those responsible.
