Teen injured in shooting steps from busy D.C. corridor

WASHINGTON, D.C. — A teenager was shot Thursday afternoon in the Columbia Heights neighborhood of Northwest D.C., prompting an active investigation by the Metropolitan Police Department.

The shooting occurred around 4:15 p.m. in the 1000 block of Columbia Road NW. Officers responded to the scene and found the teen conscious and breathing with a gunshot wound. The victim’s current condition has not been released.

Police have not identified a suspect, and no description has been made available.
