Kensington, MD — A 16-year-old boy was fatally struck by a vehicle Sunday night in Montgomery County, prompting an ongoing investigation by local authorities.

Officers from the Montgomery County Department of Police responded to the 3500 block of University Boulevard West at approximately 9:14 p.m. following reports of a pedestrian collision. When they arrived, they discovered the teen had been hit by a Nissan Murano. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The identity of the victim has not yet been released pending family notification.

According to police, the driver of the SUV remained on scene and is cooperating with investigators. No charges have been announced at this time, and details surrounding the circumstances of the crash remain under review.
