Wilkinsburg murder suspect arrested in Miami after five-month manhunt

Wilkinsburg, PA — A man wanted in the June shooting death of an 18-year-old in Wilkinsburg was arrested Monday in Miami by U.S. Marshals, ending a months-long search that stretched across state lines.

Harvey Scott, 37, was taken into custody on November 4 by the U.S. Marshal’s Florida Caribbean Gulf Coast Fugitive Task Force. He is charged in connection with the June 18 shooting of Deglin St. Clair, who was found with gunshot wounds in the 1700 block of Wesley Street.

Responding officers arrived at the scene around 5:26 p.m. and located the wounded teen, who was transported to an area hospital where he later died. The Allegheny County Police Department’s Homicide Unit launched an investigation, determining that the shooting occurred at the Paul Court housing complex.

Following witness interviews and scene analysis, detectives identified Scott as the suspect. Investigators later learned he had fled Pennsylvania, prompting federal assistance to track him down. His capture in Florida came nearly five months after the fatal shooting.

Scott is charged with criminal homicide, persons not to possess a firearm, and carrying a firearm without a license. He will be extradited back to Allegheny County to face prosecution.
