BALTIMORE, MD – A 19-year-old man was shot inside a Central District residence early Sunday morning before fleeing the scene and later seeking help on another street, police said.

Just before 12:45 a.m. on March 30, officers responded to the 900 block of Wilmot Court after receiving reports of gunfire. A citizen at the scene told police they had heard shots coming from inside a home.

Officers forced entry into the residence and discovered evidence consistent with a shooting, though no one was present inside.

Shortly after, a call directed officers to the 2200 block of North Monroe Street, where they found the 19-year-old with a gunshot wound to the arm. He was transported to an area hospital for treatment.

Investigators believe the shooting took place at the Wilmot Court location. The motive and identity of the suspect remain unknown.

Central District detectives continue to investigate and are asking anyone with information to come forward.
