Teen shot multiple times in DC as scooter-riding suspect flees scene

WASHINGTON, D.C. — An 18-year-old teen was critically injured Thursday afternoon in a shooting in the Southwest Waterfront neighborhood, prompting a citywide search for the suspect and two people of interest, the Metropolitan Police Department announced Friday.

At approximately 3:53 p.m. on May 30, First District officers responded to the 400 block of M Street SW after reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, officers found the victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was conscious and breathing at the scene.

DC Fire and EMS provided immediate aid and transported the victim to a local hospital, where he remains in treatment for life-threatening injuries.

Surveillance footage shows suspect fleeing on scooter

Surveillance cameras in the area captured images of the shooting suspect, who was seen fleeing on a scooter, along with two unidentified people of interest. Police released images of all three individuals and are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying them.

The motive for the shooting has not been confirmed, and no arrests have been made as the investigation remains ongoing.
