Teen skateboarder robbed and assaulted by three suspects in Newark

NEWARK, DE — Delaware State Police are investigating after a 16-year-old boy was assaulted with a metal object and robbed while skateboarding on Christiana Road Wednesday evening.

Troopers said the incident happened around 5:00 p.m. near Old Baltimore Pike. The teen was approached by three unknown male suspects who demanded his belongings. A struggle followed, during which the suspects struck the victim with a metal object before stealing his property and fleeing the area.

The victim later sought medical attention and was treated for minor injuries at AI Dupont Hospital.

Detectives from the Delaware State Police Troop 2 Robbery Unit are handling the investigation. No suspect descriptions have been released.
