Teen Who Killed Yonkers Cop to be Tried in New York Family Court

YONKERS, NY – The Westchester County District Attorney’s Office informed the Yonkers Police Department on November 29 about a significant update in the case of a teenager accused in the death of Yonkers Police Detective Sergeant Frank Gualdino.

Recent legal changes give courts the power to transfer certain juvenile cases to Family Court. This decision is based on factors like the minor’s age and the nature of the crime. In this instance, the accused’s age and the charge of Criminally Negligent Homicide fit the criteria for such a transfer. Consequently, the court has moved this case to the Westchester County Family Court.

Despite the shift in trial venue, there remains an expectation of fair justice for all parties. The Yonkers Police Department expressed gratitude towards the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office for their efforts in this case and ongoing support.
