Teenager Found with Loaded Gun at Brooklyn High School, Police Say

BROOKLYN, N.Y. — A 16-year-old student at Tilden High School in East Flatbush was accused of returning to the school with a loaded gun on Tuesday afternoon, according to law enforcement.

Authorities reported that the teenager initially left the school premises during dismissal but re-entered shortly after 4 p.m. carrying a 9mm handgun in his backpack. Officials said that the weapon was discovered when a scanner flagged the presence of the gun.

The teenager has not yet been charged, police confirmed. Investigators did not disclose details about how the weapon was acquired or the student’s intent.

No injuries were reported, and authorities have not indicated if the school faced a direct threat. Tilden High School officials and police have not released further information on the incident or the status of the ongoing investigation.
