NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The third soldier killed in the Black Hawk helicopter crash involving an American Airlines plane has been identified as Capt. Rebecca Lobach, a former White House aide under the Biden administration.
Lobach, 28, served as an aviation officer in the U.S. Army and previously worked as a White House social aide. Her family released a statement expressing their grief, saying, “We are devastated by the loss of our beloved Rebecca. She was a bright star in all our lives. Rebecca was a warrior and would not hesitate to defend her country in battle.”
According to CBS, Lobach assisted in official events at the White House and last month escorted designer Ralph Lauren when he received the Presidential Medal of Freedom from President Biden.
The Black Hawk crash, which occurred when the helicopter collided with an American Airlines aircraft, remains under investigation. The identities of the other two soldiers who died in the crash have not yet been publicly confirmed.
Officials continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the fatal collision as tributes pour in for Lobach and her fallen comrades.
Lobach worked as a certified sexual harassment/assault response and prevention victim advocate.
