Third Suspect Arrested in Laurel Homicide Investigation

LAUREL, DE – The Delaware State Police identified and apprehended 21-year-old Shyheem Latham-Purnell of Laurel, Delaware, as the third suspect involved in the April homicide of 18-year-old Corey Mumford.

On Monday, Latham-Purnell was located at a residence in Salisbury, Maryland, and taken into custody without incident.

The initial crime took place on April 14, when Mumford was found with multiple gunshot wounds behind an apartment building on the 100 block of Sunset Drive in Wexford Village Apartments.

Latham-Purnell will be extradited to Delaware to face charges of Murder First Degree, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited, and Conspiracy First Degree.
