MILLSBORO, DE – An early Sunday morning altercation at a Wawa convenience store has led to the arrest of three individuals on multiple charges, including aggravated menacing and assault. Delaware State Police have taken into custody 20-year-olds John Willy of Millsboro and Olivia Murphy of Clayton, along with a 25-year-old Millsboro man.
The incident occurred at the Wawa located at 24930 John J. Williams Highway, Millsboro, around 2:32 AM on Saturday. Troopers were called to the scene following reports of John Willy, armed with a firearm, threatening violence after an earlier physical confrontation with a Wawa employee. Upon arrival, Willy was detained as he attempted to leave the premises. Troopers noted he had minor facial injuries and an odor of alcohol on his breath.
During the confrontation inside the store, Willy was punched multiple times by the 25-year-old employee after a verbal altercation escalated.
After being assaulted, Willy retrieved a firearm from his vehicle, returned to the store, and made threatening statements while searching for the employee, who had hidden in the back.
A live 9mm round was found inside the store, and further search led to the discovery of another 9mm bullet in Willy’s vehicle, which was impounded and searched under a warrant.
Although the handgun was not found, charges were pressed against Willy and the employee involved in the physical altercation.
Olivia Murphy was contacted by troopers on Sunday and was found to have interfered with the police investigation, leading to her arrest on multiple charges.
The investigation is ongoing as authorities continue to piece together the events leading to the violent threats and altercation.
